Every October, the 九游体育 celebrates Black History Month and the continuing contribution that Black, Asian and minority ethnic nurses, health care support workers and students have made to the nursing profession.
Attendees at the South East event heard sessions from eminent speakers, including:
- Professor Carol Baxter CBE, Diversity & Inclusion & Human Rights Consultant
- Christina Ebanks, Director of Education, Nursing & Midwifery at Buckinghamshire New University
- Patricia O’Neale, Ward Sister at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust
- Kelvin Ossai, Assessment Nurse Practitioner Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit
The sessions comprised powerful shared experiences, interactive activities, education and celebratory performances.
Cess Wigley, 九游体育 Senior Officer and 九游体育 South East Black History Month Lead, said: “九游体育 South East was delighted that members from across the region travelled to Sussex to hear from our incredible line up of speakers.
“We were thrilled to welcome Billingshurst Primary School Choir, as well as renowned musician and nurse Kelvin Ossai to entertain us with their musical talents.
“Our members told us they left our event feeling empowered, inspired and motivated to take their nursing careers to the next level.”
