Applications are now open for four expert members to join the new ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Anti-Racism Sub-Group, responsible and accountable to the ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Group Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee.

The sub-group is being established to provide expert advice and guidance to the ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Group EDI Committee on the development and implementation of an ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Group-wide anti-racism action plan.

To advance race equity, the ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý believes that we must actively strive to be anti-racist, which means finding ways to oppose racism and support or create equity. This means taking long-term meaningful actions to challenge and change systems, policies and cultures.

We’re seeking to transform the ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý into an organisation that actively embeds racially-just cultures, processes and policies that deliver racial equity in outcomes and experiences for all ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý members.

The sub-group’s responsibilities include providing expert advice on the development of processes and policies supporting anti-racist actions and fostering inclusive workplace culture. Also, giving expertise and insight on best practice and innovation, with an emphasis on fostering inclusive and empathetic behaviours.

We’re looking for people to demonstrate:

  • knowledge and experience of anti-racism and its viable implementation across organisational contexts
  • understanding and experience of organisational transformation processes
  • an expert understanding of issues of race, racism and intersectionality
  • an active commitment to the ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Respect Charter, promoting EDI and the Nolan Principles.

Wendy Irwin, ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Head of Equity and Inclusion, said: “We need to go beyond just words. We need to actively advance race equity in our organisation. That’s why we’re looking for members who have expertise in this area and are passionate about the ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý’s commitment to become an anti-racist organisation.”

A member will need to be appointed from each of the four nations of the UK. In the event of there being no applications from a given country the seat will be held vacant, until such time that an appointment is made.

Those appointed will serve on the sub-group until 31 December 2027. Members from across the UK with knowledge and experience of anti-racism and its implementation within organisations are encouraged to apply. Applications close on 22 May at 4.30pm. Following the close of applications, shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview in June.
